FAQ

The short answer is YES.  Your long haired dog or cat really need extra attention paid to their coats.  Not grooming them on a regular basis can cause mats which in turn can cause infections on the skin beneath them.  These infections are painful and are open wounds that need to be treated ASAP.  Regular grooming can prevent this problem from occurring.

This is a cat that may look perfectly healthy in this picture, but in actuality, it is covered in mats.  Mats can also form along the anal area and cause feces to become entangled in the fur.  In some cases, they have been so bad that a cat would not even defecate until we shaved the area.
